Central Quarter in Izyum_Master Plan Proposal
URBAN PLANNING AND COMMUNITY PROJECT `IZYUM_Recovery`
OFFICIAL TITLE : A project to adapt a residential neighbourhood in the central part of the city of Izium, Kharkiv Oblast, to climate, economic, social and cultural changes. The quarter is bounded by streets: Heroiv-Chernobyltsiv, Pokrovska and Donets-Zakharzhevskoho. The project was developed on the example of the Climate Urban District in Eslingen and the French Quarter in Tübingen, Germany. It is also an initiative of ACC `PORTAL-21` LLC, co-financed by ZMINA:REBUILDING, created with the support of the European Union within the framework of a special call for proposals to support Ukrainian IDPs and the Ukrainian cultural and creative sectors, as well as with the support of the ICF IZOLYATSIA, Trans Europe Halles (Sweden) and Malý Berlín (Slovakia).
Project area: 8.5 HECTARES
Population of the quarter by 2022: 2400
MISSION: To create a sustainable, adaptive model for existing neighbourhoods in developing countries that embodies the ideas of the New European Bauhaus.
The project promotes community involvement in the restoration and reconstruction of the city, and also forms a horizontal model of communication between community representatives, different municipalities, and involved experts. The ideas and achievements of the project are universal and can be applied anywhere in Ukraine.
