Restoration repair of part of the premises of an architectural monument of local significance “Pershotravnevy Hotel” No. 377
Brief historical information about the object:
In 1830-1840, brick barracks for the gendarmerie were built on the site.
In the 1870s, the buildings were used as shops, which were leased out.
Until 1877, the site belonged to the State Property Chamber. In 1877, the site contained a two-story brick building, a one-story brick wing, a one-story wooden building, and wooden benches.
In early 1877, the property was purchased by Yuli Mikhailovich Fainberg, a merchant of the 2nd guild. A fragment of the western part of the monument has been preserved from the buildings that Fainberg inherited.
In November 1877, Fainberg began construction of single-story benches on the side of Tyuremnaya Square and Katerynoslavskaya Street.
In 1883, Fainberg demolished the brick shops that faced Prison Square (now a park) and began construction of a large two-story building from Katerynoslavska Street to Blagovishchenska Street, designed by architect G. Ya. Stryzhevsky.
In the 1890s, the existing buildings (on the side of Katerynoslavska Street) were reconstructed according to a design by architect Dashkevich M.I. The reconstruction was completed in 1898. The reconstructed building was used as “furnished rooms” – premises that were provided for temporary accommodation.
From the 1920s, the building housed the Pershotravnevy Hotel, which after 1991 was renamed the Slavia Hotel. It is currently not in operation. During the second half of the 20th century, a three-story extension to the hospital premises was built on the courtyard side.
